We are honoured to have had the opportunity to sponsor and be involved in the DevelopHER Awards again in 2019. Every year of the awards so far have been a great success, celebrating all of the amazing women in technology. However, not only was 2019 the 5th and biggest year so far, it was also held in our home town Ipswich, and was the best turnout to date.

SyncDevelopHER’s founder, Vickie Allen, is the driving force behind the awards. Establishing them in 2015 and ever since they have done nothing but inspire and fuel the buzz for getting women into tech. The awards aim to raise the profile of women in technology, creating role models who inspire the next generation to start their career in tech.

Big Bang STEMfest, Toyal Hospital School

We were kindly invited by 'The Big Bang' team to a fantastic event yesterday Hosted by Royal Hospital School (RHS), the Science, Technology, Engineering a Maths (STEM) festival offered students the chance to experience robots and recyclable drones, providing a day outside of the classroom that will be ‘more Star Wars than school lessons’.

Collaborating with the Royal Academy of Engineering, which has funded the event, RHS opened its doors to any school which would like to attend the careers element of the day.

The interactive careers event featured a host of STEM-focused organisations as well as teams from the NHS, the Police and the Armed Forces and of course Coderus, who all demonstrated how STEM subjects work hand in hand...

The annual CW International Conference might be over but the Coderus team had a fascinating day full of insightful speeches and varied networking sessions.

The event opened on 4th July 2018 at the Wellcome Genome Campus, which proved a great venue. Around 400 delegates were treated to an inspiring keynote from the likes of Matt Hatton, VP of Research at Gartner. As a startup building solutions for the IoT, the introduction of the Gartner Hype Cycle, which placed themes such as AI, blockchain and mobility into the conferences’ underlying theme, made for very interesting viewing.

We also enjoyed the heartfelt address from Rosalind Singleton, Chair of UK Broadband, which communicated a great message about the importance of people when deplo...

Technology today moves at an incredible pace. With its impact felt everywhere, tech talk is no longer the remit of software developers - it’s for everybody.

With this in mind, our Developers got their heads together to define some of the most commonly used words and phrases found in our industry. Some relate to the software we develop; others to the devices we use. We hope you find it useful.

Raspberry Pi

First released in 2015, a Raspberry Pi is a small, single board computer sold by the charity the Raspberry Pi Foundation ( ‘Raspberry’ because of the old tradition of naming computers after fruits, and ‘Pi’ because the devices were only going to run Python). Credit-card sized and ingeniously simple, the Raspberry Pi was originally desig...

We provide 300 travel mugs, enabling families and carers to enjoy a cuppa when visiting loved ones.

Bergholt Ward at Ipswich hospital is an amazing place, devoted to looking after the children in its care. Keeping children safe is naturally the highest priority, so as a preventative measure, no hot drinks are allowed onto the ward unless they are in a sealed container. This can mean many carers go repeated visits without a much-needed cuppa. Members of the Coderus team had experienced this themselves when visiting loved ones, prompting Coderus CEO Mark Tho...
