January 2020 Culture and Events

January 27, 2020
coderus team having fun

Every month we like to reflect on any stand-out moments that have occurred within the team and upcoming events that we are excited about attending.

In January so far we have attended the Suffolk One Progression Fair and are looking forward to attending the Ipswich Makerspace Annual Hackathon later this week!

We have plenty to shout about for February too! Our in-house Apprentice Developer, Andrew will be Braving the Shave for Macmillan next month and we will be attending the biggest mobile technology event of the year, the Mobile Congress in Barcelona…

Suffolk One Progression Fair

At Coderus we take pride in supporting local educational institutions and nurturing young, local talent across the region. The Suffolk One Progression Fair is the opportunity for us to showcase to students completing their A Levels, the next steps they can take to begin a career in the technology industry.

We are always keen to take on young graduates and apprentices, here in Apprentice Developer roles and looking forward to meeting passionate, driven individuals at the Fair on 11th February!

Ipswich Makerspace Hackathon

Our very own in-house Developer, Shaun will be attending the Annual Hackathon event on behalf of Coderus at Ipswich Makerspace on 30th January. Shaun has taken this opportunity to talk about all the exciting things that are happening in the world of software and technology and tell us all about his experiences of winning last’s years Hackathon with the Stress Buddy App alongside Marketing Expert Kara from StrategiQ.

Suffolk’s annual hackathon, Innovate Suffolk, is a place to turn ideas into businesses, faster than you’ve ever dreamed. The event aims to bring together the technology and startup talent from across the county in an open inclusive way. The event looks to connect people, communities and resources to solve real-world problems, build long-term, viable collaborations and nurture scalable businesses.

This month’s SYNC Ipswich will hear from event founder Simon Arnold, who will explain about the second 48 hour startup hackathon and explain what the challenges will be in March 2020.

This is a great way to inspire other individuals in the community passionate about advancements in technology, making improvements to mobile in-app software technology, and improving day-to-day-living.

Andrew’s Headshave for Charity

On the 10th February, Andrew Bolt, our Apprentice Developer will be Braving the Shave for Macmillan in Franco’s Barber. Here is why Andrew has taken the brave decision to shave for cancer:

“I am doing this because I experienced a bout of negativity at a point at which I was also negative to others. I really want to make a positive difference to counteract that negativity.”

If you would like to make a donation for Andrew’s shave, then check out his fundraising page here.

Mobile Congress in Barcelona

We are counting down the days until we attend the Mobile Congress in Barcelona global exhibition event, which will have keynote speakers from China Telecom, Nokia and VMware.

This will be the chance to network with other businesses on a global scale. There are expected to be 800 startups and exhibitors attending, 950 investors, 400 speakers and a total of 25,000 attendees.

The Mobile Congress is the largest mobile event in the world bringing together the latest innovations and cutting-edge technology supporting major event topics and trends, like AI, Customer Engagement, Connectivity: The 5G Era, Industry X, Media and Entertainment and in Security and Privacy.
